The wood paneling, fluorescent beer signage, and Spartan restroom facilities of the imitators conjure the working-class homeyness of the American classic, while the prices, clientele, and subsequent atmosphere undermine that nostalgia wholeheartedly. On either side of economic crisis, dive bars traffic in fantasy. The supposed relic of Americana purity still exists in solidly ethnic neighborhoods and across the massive rural swaths of this country. Dive bars are romantic like pickup trucks are romantic, cherished as a symbol for a certain national way of life presumed to be fading. In turn, these icons have begun to suggest something different than what they previously stood for. The distinct blue and yellow of an Old Style sign, for example, was once a beacon for a certain kind of chill, affordable, neighborhood establishment, and sometimes still is. But now, it might also hang outside the type of bar where one would only order Old Style ironically, but more likely not at all. Another increasingly common feature of these establishments threatens to further unravel the dive-bar aesthetic—the digital jukebox. More specifically, the TouchTunes digital jukebox.

A Mormon wife will also want to bring the kids along, and that should be discussed and decided before marriage and before kids. If she expresses interest in converting, be prepared to talk about your beliefs, and help her find ways to learn about and follow them. Doesn't leave many options here though but better than constantly having them push the church on you until you either give in and convert or break up. But our marriage is strong, and our children are good people. But I ultimately leave it to him most times.
I still love my Heavenly Father and my Savior. Maybe there is wisdom behind some of the peculiarities. I had many extremely hurtful things said to me, along with an intervention hosted by my married-in-the-temple-and-divorced grandmother. Instead, I found someone outside the cult and we've been married almost 32 years She's looking for a dedicated priesthood holder who will take her to the temple. When DH comes in he is still gone more than half the time.
